ABOUT

Rico Baumann is a drummer, music producer and mixing engineer living in Bern, Switzerland.

​

A multidisciplinary artist within one discipline, Rico Baumann works in all possible styles, branches and dimensions of music. From playing everything between improvised music, pop and electronic music on stages around the world he quickly expanded his roles to include composing, producing and mixing in the studio, arranging and writing for Big Band, MD-ing for trending pop acts, creating sound design for film and even inventing his own instrument.

 

As a live musician he is currently touring with Leila, Splendid, Le Rex, South African rapper Stogie T, Orange Radio, Sparks and Tides, Swiss Jazz Orchestra, and author and singer Michael Fehr.

 

As a producer, he has gained recognition for his work with the band TRUE and went on to work on albums by various artists including James Gruntz, King Pepe, Jeans For Jesus, AEIOU, Baze, Linda Wolf, Daniela Sarda and Emilia Anastazja.

 

He is touring throughout Europe, to the United States, India, and Japan.

 

In 2006 he received a scholarship from the Friedl Wald Foundation and in 2013 the Marianne and Curt Dienemann Foundation's sponsorship award. In 2012 he was selected to represent Switzerland in the European Jazz Orchestra and in 2015 he received the New York Scholarship from the City of Bern. In 2022 he was honored with the Music Prize of the Canton of Bern.
